The Adobe Commerce Conundrum

Adobe Commerce is “open source.” This platform is an 80/20 system: 80% of the average merchant's needs are met out of the box. The remaining 20% allows merchants to make customizations to meet specific needs. Flip it around, and that 20% becomes at least 80% of the budget.

Every line of code is customizable. But that doesn’t mean that every line should be customized. Every customization is technical debt. Upgrades are painful and expensive. Yes, developers should be taking steps to minimize this, but unfortunately, many just don’t know how.

The Power of Experience

The SwiftOtter team can architect and engineer custom solutions, but we will look for an out-of-the-box solution first. This method works based on our deep knowledge of Adobe Commerce. Any agency that does not have this deep knowledge will not be able to advise merchants in full use of the feature set. This will increase the “Total Lifetime Cost” of the software (paying for unnecessary customizations and their long-term technical debt).

The purpose of this course is twofold; to give merchants the knowledge needed to make better use of merchandising features. And to help in discernment of whether or not customizations are necessary.

What are the prerequisites?

We assume a basic level of knowledge of the Adobe Commerce platform. For example, you must know the basic concepts behind products and categories. You must also have a (not-production) store to implement what you learn.

Note: this course requires you have your own environment to learn in.

If you want to earn the badge, we recommend allocating one hour a day for three weeks to work through the course and complete the coursework.

He has been providing Adobe Commerce/Magento training to developers and merchants since 2018. His goal is to elevate knowledge globally, a plan in which everyone wins.
